KARACHI: Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Syed Ali Hyder Zaidi visited the head office of the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) here on Friday.
New Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Syed Ali Hyder Zaidi after taking his charge visited KPT Headquarters, where the officials gave him detailed briefing over the KPT’s geography, historical data, financial health, initiatives, existing facilities and future development projects.
LNG Complex, KPT Freight Corridor, Port Connectivity, Sewerage Treatment Plant and Real Estate Development as well as Maritime Business Enclave in TPX area including various projects of capacity and capability enhancement also came under discussion.
Minister Syed Ali Zaidi appreciated the overall performance of KPT and bestowed his absolute confidence in senior management and the able leadership of KPT Chairman Rear Admiral Jamil Akhtar.
The minister desired that untapped resources of blue economy be capitalized through automation to ensure transparency and productivity. He said that it is a matter of satisfaction for him to see that KPT is playing a pivotal role in the financial and economic strengthening of the nation.
After attending the meeting, Syed Ali Hyder Zaidi offered Juma prayers with the officers and labour of the Karachi Port Trust. After the prayers the labour informed the Minister regarding the problems being faced by them over which Syed Ali Hyder Zaidi assured his full support in addressing the problems.
