PESHAWAR: Pakistan Customs Tuesday made Khyber Border Terminal (KBT) Jamrud, Khyber Agency operational.
According to Peshawar Collector Qurban Ali Khan, mock customs clearance will formally start as the WeBOC system has been made functional at the KBT. He said that the National Logistic Cell (NLC) started the construction work on terminal about 10-year ago, adding that the facilities like container scanner, weighing bridge, round the clock generator, phones, internet and electricity were already available there.
About remaining work, Qurban Ali said that canteen and washrooms for drivers will be constructed while clearing agents will be provided free-of-cost space. He said that Pakistan Customs fully supported the construction of multi-million-dollars terminal, which was funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB). The collector said that due to the construction of the ADB-funded terminal, operation at Torkham border will remain stopped, therefore work at Jamrud terminal will continue.
