KHUSHAB: The Field Investigation Unit (FIU) of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Faisalabad has confiscated Indian origin goods worth Rs 2,49,88,824 involving customs duty and taxes Rs1,29,19,222 and impounded a non duty paid Mazda truck worth Rs 5,00,000.
According to the details, Superintendent Zahid Raza Bukhari received credible information about some smuggling attempts. He immediately constituted customs team comprising Senior Intelligence Officer Muhammad Tahir, Intelligence Officer Muhammad Saleem and Muhammad Siddique.
The team intercepted a truck bearing registration no: LWN-4005 near Sial More Rest area. During checking the customs team recovered fancy sari with blouse foreign origin micro falcon embroided beads made in China.
The teaml asked the driver namely Malik Safwan son of Malik Mukhtar Ahmed to show the documents regarding its legal import but he failed to do the same. Therefore, the customs officials seized the goods under the Import and Export Control Act 1950 punishable under Section 156(1) 89 and 178 of Customs Act, 1969. The seizure report forwarded to Customs Adjudication for further legal action.
