FAISALABAD: khoushab Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Field Investigation Unit (FIU) has confiscated huge quantity of smuggled computers worth Rs6.881 million involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs1,562,281 during a road checking.
According to details, the FIU team following the directions of Deputy Director Riaz Hussain conducted a raid to foil smuggling attempt in the region.
During the raid the team impounded a Trailer bearing Registration No TLG-TLG-551 loaded near Sindh Punjab Check Post National Highway kot Sabzal Tehsil sadiqabad with Foreign origin (F/O), CPU (977-Pcs), used serwar assorted brand (8010-Kgs), used key board (500-Pcs), lap top with hard disk (357-Pcs), and computers (500-Pcs) and others items.
The officials asked driver named Muhammad Ashraf son of Ghulam Muhammad residential of Tehsil and District Layyah and owner of items Mubashir Ali son of Fazal Hussain Ali to show documents regarding legal import of the items.
On which he produced a Goods Declaration No KPPI-HC-33919 dated 29-11-2016 issued by M/s Waseem Raza Cargo service showing clearance of used computer regarding transpiration of container from Karachi to Lahore.
The officials found discrepancies while examining the documents and recovered goods; therefore, they confiscated items under Section 18, 32 of the Customs Act, 1969 read with Section 3(1) (3) of the Import and Export Control Act, 1969.
The intelligence officers, including Deputy Director Riaz Hussain, Superintendent Muhammad Saifullah, Senior Intelligence Officer Tahir iqbal, Intelligence Officers Naseer Ahmed Muhammad Saleem, Mansoor Nasir, and Sepoys Ajamal Hussain and Muhammad Musaddiq Ahmad participated in the raids. However, seizure reports have been submitted to adjudication department for further legal action.
