KARACHI: The Karachi Customs Agents Association (KCAA) has announced date for holding of its annual general elections for the year 2014-15.
According to details, the elections of Karachi Customs Agents’ Association (KCAA) would be held on September 25, upon completion of the one-year tenure of the incumbent KCAA body.
KCAA General Secretary Faisal Mushtaq confirmed to Customs Today that the association had decided to hold annual general elections on Sept 25. He said that dates for the submission/filing of nomination papers on different slots and other requisites would be finalized in the next week.
It is to be noted that the Karachi Customs Agents Alliance Panel led by an influential Customs agent Saifullah Khan has been winning the KCAA annual elections unopposed since 2009.
It may also be mentioned here that former KCAA president Saifullah Khan remained president of the association for three consecutive years 2009-10; 2011-12 and 2012-13.
The inside sources informed Customs Today that a ‘particular group’ of Customs agents was planned to contest elections against the strong panel of Karachi Customs Agents Alliance as they were not satisfied with the performance of the incumbent office bearers.
