KARACHI: The property tax section of the Excise and Taxation Department has sealed private factories and godowns located at side areas of the city for evading tax. The authorities have set March 5 as the deadline for paying tax.
Talking to Customs Today, Property Tax Section Incharge Shabir Soomro said that the department has sealed two rice godowns and a knitwear factory after issuing multiple notices to their owners for two years. He said that more than eight notices were issued to the owners of godowns and factory, but they avoided to pay tax.
It is necessary to note that during property tax survey, the owners of the godowns and companies have assured to pay past tax liabilities within fifteen days but they failed to clear their outstanding dues. Therefore, Excise and Taxation department has set 5 March deadline for tax payment.
