AMMAN: According to Customs statics, the Jordan’s exports of vegetables and fruits continued their gradual rise reaching half a million tonnes since the beginning of 2015 until the end of July. Further reports from the Agriculture Minister Akef Zu’bi showed that the Kingdom’s exports of vegetables and fruits in July stood at 100,000 tonnes, an increase of 25 percent compared to the same period of last year.
However, he said that the volume of exports since the beginning of 2015 reached 491,000 tonnes compared to 541,000 tonnes in the same period of 2014 due to the closure of the Syrian and Iraqi markets at the end of March. The minister pointed out that the increase of exports to Arab Gulf states since the beginning of May, led to a gradual rise in these exports.
