FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) has seized illegally imported 4,870 kilogram of cloth, besides impounding a truck being used for the transportation of smuggled item worth Rs 10 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 1.991 million.
Faisalabad Deputy Collector Rizwan Khan, following information, formed a team to bust the smuggling attempt. The team intercepted a truck bearing Registration No JV-0233 near Bhakkar Road, Jhang, and recovered the cloth.
On inquiring, the driver disclosed that ladies Grieg fabrics was loaded in the container which was mentioned in the GD No KAPEHC-58752, while the GD showed description of goods as ladies textile polyester fabrics having 14,890kg weight. On demanding other documents, the driver could not produce the same; therefore, the vehicle along with consignment was impounded.
The team comprising Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joyia, Inspector Shoukat khan, Khalid Noor, Sepoy Muhammad Ajmal, Ahmad bux and Ghulam Sarwar Shah participated in the raid.
The seizure report has been submitted to the Customs Adjudication for further proceedings.
