ISLAMABAD: The Customs State Ware House (SWH), Air freight Unit (AFU) Islamabad, earned Rs170.54million of revenue generated from confiscated currencies, auctions of mobile phones, smuggled goods and gold deposited into the Mint Department at Lahore.
According to details told by Ali Asad, Assistant Collector SWH, that during the Financial Year 2016-17, the SWH, which is working under the Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Islamabad, showed outstanding performance. During said period, the SWH held two auctions of different kinds of goods at the AFU Building at Islamabad Airport.
During said period, the SWH received Rs11.58million revenue out of two auctions while it did Rs25.05million through auctions of seized mobile phones. It may be remembered that the SWH can only sell impounded mobile phones to the authorized dealers of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
During FY2016-17, the SWH fetched Rs29.46million from different kinds of seized foreign currencies.
Ali Asad told CT that during above said period, the SWH generated Rs104.00million from confiscated gold which was seized during FY2016-17.
