ISLAMABAD: The Special Car Cell, Directorate General, Customs Intelligence and investigation Islamabad, has taken into possession a used foreign origin non-duty-paid smuggled Toyota Land Cruiser Prado TZ worth Rs2.4million. Director General Customs Intelligence Shaukat Ali has lauded the performance of the Special Car Cell.
A team of Special Car Cell received a tip-off that a non-duty-paid smuggled Toyota Land Cruiser Prado with fake registration No: BF 8527 Sindh is moving in the area of Sector F-10 Markaz, Islamabad.
The team, comprising Superintendent Saeed Ahmed, Intelligence Officers Gul Nawaz, Muhammad Kaleem with other members, intercepted the tipped-off vehicle possessed by one driver and Raja Arif Ali son of Raja Mehmood, a resident of Abbotabad.
On demand, the driver and possessor of the vehicle failed to produce any import or auction documents. As per import and auction data available with the directorate general, no record existed. So team of the special car cell impounded the vehicle and shifted it to the headquarters, Sector G-10, under section 17 of the Customs Act-1969 for further verification of its import status and payment of duties and taxes and forensic lab test. But the vehicle was proved a smuggled one as it had no record with the authorities concerned.
