ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) will hear two vital tax matters on Thursday (today) involving claims worth Rs 50.3 million and Rs 9.3 million under the heads of income tax and federal excise duty, respectively.
A single bench of the IHC comprising Justice Aamer Farooq would hear both cases. The income tax matter was filed by M/s Huawai Technologies (Private) Limted against Commissioner Inland Revenue. Deputy Commissioner Inland Revenue was also made party in the case pleading the court to set aside the show-cause notice thereafter the FBR recovered Rs 50.3 million under the head of income tax.
The appellant had also demanded the court declare the act as illegal and grant a stay against recovery proceedings further and encashment of pay order.
Pakistan Telecom Mobile Company Private Limited had filed the other case. In this case, Ministry of Finance, FBR and officers of Large Taxpayer’s Unit, Islamabad, were made respondents.
The appellant had challenged the show cause notice asking the appellant that “why Rs 9,313,925 should not be recovered from appellant in the head of FED?” the appeal had challenged the show cause notice intimating the recovery of said amount and pleaded court to declare the show cause notice as without any legal grounds.
