ISLAMABAD: A single bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday would hear three tax matters, challenging administrative moves of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
The IHC judge Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb would hear the matters filed by M/s Quick Link (Private) Limited, Alpha Bravo (Private) Limited and M/S Pakistan Gulf Construction (Private) Limited.
M/s Quick Link Private Limited and Alpha Bravo Private Limited had also named Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue among respondents since the petitions filed by the appellant carried submission against decisions announced by the ATIR.
Other than ATIR, the companies had named officers of Large Taxpayers’ Unit and Regional Tax Office (RTO) in the petitions. They had challenged show cases notices issued to them by the FBR field offices pertaining to outstanding tax amounts.
M/s Quick Link Private Limited and Alpha Bravo Private Limited had also availed the opportunity to challenge the outstanding tax recovery notices before the ATIR, however they approached the higher court after ATIR maintained departmental decisions on the matters.
M/s Pak Gulf Construction Private Limited had only nominated FBR officers in the case as the ATIR had announced verdict in its favor. However, the appellant approached the court seeking further relief from the court.
It is pertinent to mention that the said petition had been filed recently. The court would hear the matters for the first time. Petitioners in the cases had prayed the court to restrict FBR from making recoveries following issuance of notices to them in head of outstanding taxes.
