ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization Islamabad impounded 132 bags of Indian Korh and two other kinds of herbs along with an offending vehicle from Carriage Factory Rawalpindi.
According to details given by Assistant Collector, Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Islamabad that, on a tip-off, ASO Islamabad intercepted a Hino truck bearing registration No: RIS-556 which was coming from Rawalakot. The possessors of the truck failed to give any proof for the genuiness of the loaded smuggled goods. So the ASO took into possession Indian origin items also including other goods like 10 bags of tukham Qtancan and 10 bags of Tukham-e-jand. The ASO deposited them into the state ware house while an FIR has been filed against the possessors of contraband items according to the Customs Act-1969.
Assistant Collector told CT that the ASO Islamabad registered nine cases against Indian banana and cashew nuts worth Rs1.39million and also took into possession eight offending vehicles valued at Rs6.3million during March 7th to 21st of FY17-18. During above said duration, the ASO launched an outstanding crackdown on Indian origin smuggled goods. The ASO Islamabad impounded a huge quantity of perishable smuggled items too along with offending vehicles and smuggled goods priced at Rs7.69million.
