ISLAMABAD: The Customs Car Cell of the Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Islamabad took into possession a Non-Duty-Paid (NDP) Toyota Prado worth Rs2.5million from Bahria Town Islamabad.
According to details explained by sources of MCC to Customs Today that Collector MCC Dr. Saeed Khan Jadoon received a tip-off about a car plying in the city. He shared the information with the Car Cell which established a picket near Bahria Town.
The cell intercepted the non-duty-paid (NDP) car with fake registration number plate. The Car Cell staff asked the possessor to provide the original documents of the vehicle, but he failed to do so.
After the firsthand investigation, the Car Cell impounded the vehicle with a fake registration No: JAG-4320 and took it to the state warehouse. The estimated value of the vehicle is Rs2.5million. An FIR has been registered against the owner of the NDP vehicle.
The Toyota Prado was taken into possession under the Customs Act-1969 and the documents of the vehicle were sent for further examination to the Investigation and Prosecution (I&P) Department.
The FBR has issued special instructions to the Customs Department to take appropriate steps to arrest the smuggling and transfer of non-duty-paid vehicles.
The seizure of the NDP vehicle was conducted by Inspector Chaudhry Safadar and Sepoy Bilal Yaqoob.
