ISLAMABAD: Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad has marked 100 percent achievement in revenue collection before the end of the current fiscal year 2014-15.
According to the details, Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad was assigned the target of Rs 1,3278 million, which it has collected by the end of May, 2015, a month before the ending of running fiscal year and showed remarkable performance.
While year on year basis, Islamabad Customs showed outstanding growth as it had collected Rs 7,995 million in the wake of taxes during last fiscal year 2013-14 that is Rs 5,283 million less than the collections, made by Collectorate till May 30, 2015.
Meanwhile, in the column of customs duty the collectorate has collected Rs 4.449 billion till May 30, 2015 against annual target of Rs 4.426 billion with surplus of Rs 23 million, while it had collected only Rs 2.883 billion during last fiscal year.
Talking to Customs Today, Additional Collector of Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad, Waheed Ullah Marwat, has said that collectorate has achieved significant result in the fields of revenue collection, anti-smuggling, curbing mis-declaration and under-invoicing.
He added that it was all made possible with the effective control of customs officials at Islamabad Dry Port and Air Freight Unit (AFU), Islamabad. He said that collectorate hit 54 percent growth in term of customs duty in current fiscal year as compared to corresponding period of last year 2013-14, while its total share in revenue collection was remained 66 percent in this year.
