ISLAMABAD: The Special Car Cell, Directorate General Customs Intelligence and Investigation, has caught a non-duty-paid expensive Toyota Mark X car worth Rs2.3million from the possession of Senior Superintendent Police (Operations) Islamabad Sajid Hassan Kiyani. This is really a regrettable and shameful act.
According to sources, the car was in the personal use of the SSP. When the Special Car Cell intercepted the vehicle, driver of Senior Superintendent Police (Operations) named Ikram Ullah Khan Niazi, a resident of Okara, was driving the car.
Sources told Customs Today that Sajid Kiyani himself appeared in the office of the Director General Customs Intelligence and Investigation and requested to release the car but his request was rejected.
According to details, on a tip-off, the staff of the Special Car Cell DG Customs I&I FBR intercepted the said smuggled black-color, model 2005, with registration plate No: BB-328 Islamabad, 3000-cc car, near Islamabad High Court.
At the time of the interception, Ikram Ullah Khan Niazi introduced himself as a driver of the SSP Operations Islamabad and stated that SSP Sajid Kiyani is the owner of the car who is abroad.
The driver was asked for producing any legal documents of the vehicle but he failed to do so. As per import and auction, no date was available with directorate general, so the vehicle was impounded under Section 17 of the Customs Act-1969 for further verification of its import status, payment of duty and taxes and forensic examination.
