DUBLIN: Ireland’s unemployment rate fell to a fresh low of 6.0 percent in October, the central statistics office said on Wednesday.
Unemployment has fallen steadily since the jobless rate peaked at 15.1 percent in 2012, when Ireland was midway through a three-year international bailout.
Ireland’s finance department expects the unemployment rate to dip below 6 percent by the end of this year, paving the way for the economy to reach effective full employment next year, with the rate forecast to remain at 5.5 percent from 2018 onwards.
