DUBLIN: Police and customs officers in the Republic of Ireland have seized cocaine worth more than €700,000 from a lorry that had travelled from Holland.
One man aged 51 was arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking offences and is being questioned.
In a joint statement, officials said: “On the 24th December, 2015, as part of an intelligence led joint operation between Officers of the Revenue Commissioners Customs Service and the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau of An Garda Siochana, approximately eleven kilos of cocaine with an estimated street value in excess of €770,000 was seized, following the interception of a haulage vehicle that had just arrived at Dublin Port from the Holland.
“During the course of this joint operation one male (aged 51 years) was arrested for drug trafficking offences and detained at Store Street Garda Station, under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice ( Drug Trafficking ) Act 1996.”
