TEHRAN: Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has underlined the importance of boosting economic relations with Pakistan. According to Iranian media, he was talking to National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in Tehran. Javad Zarif said Iran is ready to export gas and electricity to Pakistan. He said Iran and Pakistan enjoy very good relations not only in the diplomatic arena, but also in the parliamentary, security and economic sectors.
Javad Zarif said Tehran welcomes Pakistan’s participation in the project to develop Iran’s Chabahar Port. He said security of Pakistan is of high significance for Iran. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the avenues for expansion of mutual and regional as well as the parliamentary cooperation. Majlis (Parliament) speaker Ali Larijani during his meeting with Ayaz Sadiq, pointed to Iran-Pakistan role in fighting terrorism as influential, saying that both countries are attempting to establish peace and sustainable security in the region. He referred to the fact that Pakistan is a friendly and neighboring country for Iran, and said that the country plays major role in making peace in the region.
‘We have held close negotiations with Pakistan in regional and international bodies and both countries have a lot in common in solving regional problems,’ Larijani added. He went on to say that we discussed on different issues like boosting economic ties. Ayaz Sadiq arrived in Tehran for a five-day official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran. He is visiting Iran on the invitation of Larijani who visited Pakistan in November 2014. A high level parliamentary delegation is also accompanying the Pakistani official during the visit.
