TEHRAN: Iran imported over 62,000 passenger cars during the last Iranian fiscal year (ended March 20). Iran’s car imports registered a rise by 20 percent in the period, compared to the same period of the previous year, according to the Iranian Customs Administration. The country imported $1.576 billion worth of cars during the 12-month period.
The Islamic Republic imported 36,203 cars, worth $892.6 million with engine capacity between 1500-2000 cc in the period. Iran also imported 25,800 cars, worth $683.9 million with engine capacity between 2000-2500 cc during the last fiscal year, registering a value rise of 25 percent compared to the preceding year.
