ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Tuesday announced that the offices of Inland Revenue (IR) will remain open on Saturday, February 24, and observe normal working day for collection of duty and taxes.
In a circular issued to all chief commissioners of the Large Taxpayers Units (LTUs), Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) and Corporate Regional Tax Offices (CRTOs), the revenue authority directed them to facilitate taxpayers in the payment of duty and taxes on February 24 by opening the offices on the weekly holiday.
Sources in the FBR said the revenue body is facing acute revenue collection shortage during the current month due to short number of days, besides public holiday on account of Kashmir Day on February 5.
The FBR has collected over Rs2 trillion during July-January 2017/18. The revenue collecting agency requires another Rs2 trillion in the remaining five months of the current fiscal year to meet the fiscal year target of Rs4.013 trillion.
