JAKARTA: Indonesia`s export value to Switzerland in 2015 reached US$1 billion. This is an increase by almost 000 percent compared to 2014’s US$133 million.
Nus Nuzulia Ishak the Trade Ministry’s director general of national export development, said that the biggest export contributor was jewelry goods. The export of jewelries, including gold and silver, amounted to US$765 million dollar, accounting for 67.8 percent of last year’s export revenue total.
“The demand for Indonesian jewelry from Switzerland increased, boosting the value of our exports there,” Nus said on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum that was held in in Davos, Switzerland, on Wednesday January 20, 2016.
According to Nus, Indonesia’s overall trade balance from January to October 2015 recorded a surplus of 227 percent, year on year, with a value of US$519 million. Meanwhile, Indonesia’s value of imports from Switzerland for the same period reached US$534.6 million, down by 11 percent.
