Indian BSF, Railway police seize fake currency in joint operation

BENGAL: Indian Border Security Force and Railway Police have seized fake Indian currency notes worth of Rs.4 in the joint operation from a railway station in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district, the Border Security Force said here the other day.

“The troopers charged a suspicious looking man but due to heavy crowd and darkness, he managed to escape and left behind a plastic bag. On searching it, the fake notes of face value of Rs.3.96 lakh was found,” said a BSF spokesperson.

The South Bengal frontier of the BSF has seized fake Indian currency notes of face value exceeding Rs.1.60 crore so far this year.
