KIEV: Total imports of polyethylene (PE) into Ukraine decreased to 183,600 tonnes in the first eleven months of 2015, down 14% compared year on year, according to MRC DataScope on Monday.The greatest reduction in demand occurred for the sector of low density polyethylene (LDPE).
November imports of PE into the country increased to 22,200 tonnes, compared with 13,400 tonnes in October on the back of an increase in the supply from Russia and Saudi Arabia.
Total PE imports into the country decreased to183,600 tonnes in January-November 2015, compared with 214,700 tonnes year on year. The largest drop in demand occurred for LDPE, while sector of linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) showed the smallest decline.
November imports of HDPE into the Ukrainian market increased to 9,600 tonnes against 5,600 tonnes in October, with the main increase in deliveries occurred for the Russian producers.
Ukraine”s HDPE imports in January-November decreased to 83,400 tonnes in the first eleven months of the year, down 12% year on year. The largest drop in demand occurred for polyethylene for extrusion blow moulding (EBM), the segment of film HDPE, on the contrary, showed the smallest decline.
November LDPE imports into Ukraine rose to 7,400 tonnes, compared with 5,000 tonnes in October because of the increased film PE supply from Belarus and Russia.
LDPE imports into Ukraine decreased to 59,100 tonnes in January – November 2015, down 20% year on year. The greatest reduction in demand occurred for the producers of cables and wires, the smallest – shrinkable films.
November imports of linear polyethylene increased to 5,200 tonnes, compared with 2,900 tonnes in October, the main increase occurred for the Middle Eastern PE for the production of stretch film.
Total imports of LDPE into Ukraine decreased to 41,100 tonnes in January – November 2015, down 11% year on year. The largest drop in demand was seen in the sector of overall rotational moulding products and injection moulding, the smallest – in the film sector.
