KARACHI: The business community has decided to hold a meeting with the Customs authorities in connection with the newly introduced Form-I for imports.
Sources informed Customs Today that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has now completed all their preparations in view of launching the Form-I from September 1.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Directorate of Reforms and Automation has informed the FBR that the software in this regard has been working perfectly and it would be implemented across the field formation offices from September 1, 2016.
The sources informed Customs Today that the importers have expressed their deep concerns over the introduction of Form-I in importation of the consignments adding that the said Form would create difficulties and would effect on import.
The sources further informed that the importers’ community has made arrangements to meet with the Chief Collector-Appraisement (South) Abdul Rasheed Shaikh in first phase in order to present their reservations before the authorities concerned.
The sources further informed that the importers’ community has also decided to take up the said matter of introduction of Form-I before the Chairman FBR Nisar Muhammad Khan and Member Customs Nasir Masroor.
One of the importers while sharing his views with Customs Today said that the privacy of the importers would be in danger with the introduction of Form-I, as the FBR authorities concerned have made it mandatory in Form-I that the importer should share his each and every import information through this Form-I.
