KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate of Port Qasim’s Customs Intelligence Unit (CIU) has arrested Examination officer Malik Sadabahar, who was wanted in the illegal clearance of ajinomoto salt, and also obtained his remand.
As per details, M/s Mohsin Plastic Works imported a consignment from China declared to be Ball Clay GF-12 (24,180kg). The GD was assigned for examination under red category. The assessment group made assessment on the basis of importer’s declaration and examination report. On credible information, the CIU re-examined the consignment, which found 400 bags of mono sodium glutamate (ajinomoto salt) weighing 10,000kg.
The consignment was seized as the import of ajinomoto salt has been banned in the country. It was later established that the M/s Mohsin Plastic Works with the help of its accomplices namely Samiullah, Malik Sadabahar and others attempted to clear banned goods through concealing the description of goods and mis-declaration.
The Collectorate lodged an FIR against M/s Mohsin Plastic Works, Samiullah and Examination officer Malik Sadabahar for allegedly clearing the banned products through mis-declaration.
