ISLAMABAD: A single bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) will resume the hearing of M/s WiTribe Pakistan’s tax reference on Wednesday (today).
The single bench comprising Justice Aamer Farooq will hear the case challenging a recovery notice of Rs 457.2 million under the head of income tax.
Through the reference, M/s WiTribe Pakistan had named chief commissioner Inland Revenue, LTU, assistant commissioner Inland Revenue Withholding, LTU, commissioner Inland Revenue (Appeals), LTU, and Federation of Pakistan through the chairman of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) as respondent in the case.
M/s WiTribe Pakistan Limited had challenged show-cause notices issued during the month of August for the tax year 2015. The company had prayed the court to direct the LTU not to recover the said amount and abstain from any coercive action against it.
The petitioner had prayed the court that the operation of the impugned notices issued by the tax authority may kindly be suspended till the decision of appeal pending before the LTU.
Meanwhile. Amid thin presence of staffers, Federal Service Tribunal (FST) dated in office hearing on ‘implementation’ and ‘increment’ complaints filed by employees of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Tuesday.
FST bench comprising of Members Syed Rafique Hussain Shah and Dr Nazir Saeed held hearing. Syed Rafique Hussain Shah and Dr Nazir Saeed dated in office hearing of cases filed by M Waheed, Anjum Rasheed, and others.
Same bench had adjourned hearing of couple of other cases yesterday. Syed Rafique Hussain Shah and Dr Nazir Saeed adjourned hearing of cases filed by Waseem Iqbal, Anjum Waheed, Said Hussain Abbasi and Abdul Sattar.
Waseem Iqbal, Anjum Waheed, and Said Hussain Abbasi had filed complaints on ‘Implementation’ while AbdulSattar had submitted a complaint about ‘Withholding of three increment’.
Ishtiaq Ahmed and M Javed Iqbal Kasi will resume hearing of cases filed by Noor Muhammad, Muhammad Ishtiaque and Aurangzeb challenging reversion. They had filed their cases in 2016.
Another appellant had filed complaint about implementation by Syed Sultan Abbas. Same bench heard the cases asking the tribunal to ensure implementation over its earlier announced decision which was not yet complied by the board authorities.
