ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) will resume the hearing of cases filed by M/s Wateen Telecom Limited and M/s Dewan Cement Limited on Tuesday (today). Both the companies have challenged the recovery claims made by field office of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
A single bench of the IHC comprising Justice Aamer Farooq would hear the cases. M/s Dewan Cement Limited had challenged the show cause notice issued by the commissioner Inland Revenue of Large Taxpayer’s Unit, Islamabad. M/s Wateen Telecom Limited was issued the notice under head of sales tax.
M/s Wateen Telecom Limited had prayed the court that the FBR office had issued a recovery notice to the company which did not hold lawful grounds.
The appellant had prayed the court to declare the act as illegal and without any lawful authority and an interim stay may be granted against recovery proceedings.
M/s Wateen Telecom Limited had also prayed the court to decide the case early as the appellant had to bear financial complications after the case.
The ATIR, the FBR, officers of the LTU, including commissioner Inland Revenue, and others are made respondents in the case.
