ISLAMABAD: A single bench of the Islamabad High Court adjourned the hearing of six important tax references involving the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) during fourth week of September.
A single bench of the IHC comprising Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb heard the cases filed by Nokia Solutions and Networks Pakistan (Private) Limited, M/s Capital Strategies Group (Private) Limited, M/s Wateen Telecom Limited, M/s Halmore Power Generation Company Limited and Administrator Islamabad Club. Hearing of all cases was adjourned to different dates in October.
Nokia Solution and Networks Pakistan Private Limited had challenged a tax recovery claim amounting to Rs 3,643,291 issued by field office of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
Nokia Solution and Networks Pakistan Private Limited had filed the case seeking restrictions for Large Taxpayers Unit, Islamabad about recovering outstanding tax amount.
The appellant had challenged an LTU order, issued in June, 2016 before the IHC after exhausting the departmental platform for appealing disputing orders. The department had issued the order under provisions of Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.
According to details, M/s Capital Strategies Group Private Limited and M/s Wateen Telecom Limited-through its three references, had submitted complaints against Large Taxpayers Unit officials including the Commissioner Inland Revenue and his assistant.
M/s Halmore Power Generation Company Limited had challenged show cause issued by the Regional Tax Office and had named the commissioner and others in its case.
Administrator Islamabad Club had filed a case in which Federal Board of Revenue was made main respondent. Most appellants had challenged different tax recovery claims by the FBR field offices.
