ISLAMABAD: A division bench of Islamabad High Court (IHC) heard plenty of tax references during fourth week of September, carrying complaints against field offices of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and Customs Appellate Tribunal.
In this regard, an important case was heard by a division bench of IHC comprising of Justice Noor ul Haq N Qureshi and Justice Athar Minallah.
M/s Telenor Pakistan (Private) Limited had filed the tax case, seeking restrictions for the FBR from recovering outstanding tax amount of Rs 8,431,684. The bench adjourned hearing of this reference.
Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), officers of LTU including Commissioner Inland Revenue, Commissioner Inland Revenue (Appeals) and Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue (ATIR) were made respondent in the case.
The bench also heard cases filed by M/s TNB Liberty Power Limited Islamabad and M/s Sun Diplomatic Bonded Warehouse Private Limited.
Former had filed cases against FBR while the later had lodged the case against Customs Appellate Tribunal, Islamabad.
M/s TNB Liberty Power Limited Islamabad also stated that show cause notice claiming mentioning outstanding tax amount was issued with malafide intentions. The appellant further prayed the court bar LTU from taking coercive measure to recover the said amount.
