ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has barred the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) from recovering tax liability of Rs 1.975 billion from the Pakistan Telecommunication Employees Trust.
A single bench of the IHC comprising Justice Aamer Farooq heard the case and disposed it of with directions to the Regional Tax Office, Islamabad, to decide the case within 60 days and submit a report before the deputy registrar judicial of the IHC office.
The appellant had challenged the order issued by RTO on April 8, 2016 regarding recovery of the said amount under the head of withholding tax.
The government, through Secretary Finance division, RTO’s Chief Commissioner, Commissioner Inland Revenue and Commissioner Inland Revenue (Appeals), were made party in the case.
