ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday adjourned the hearing of a tax reference filed against the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
A single bench of the IHC comprising Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb heard the case and adjourned for further hearing. The bench dated in the office hearing of the case.
Zafar Mahmood, a citizen had filed the petition through his counsel. The appellant had challenged a decision announced by FBR field office-Regional Tax office (RTO), Islamabad.
Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue and officers of RTO including Commissioner Inland Revenue, Deputy Commissioner Inland Revenue and Commissioner Inland Revenue (Appeals) were made respondent in the case.
The appellant had asked the court that RTO had not heard his complaint about payable outstanding tax amount stated in RTO show cause notice. He prayed the court to direct RTO not to recover the said amount and abstain from any coercive action in this regard.
The petitioner had prayed the court operation of the impugned order issued by the tax authority may kindly be suspended till the decision of appeal pending before the RTO.
Zafar Mahmood had also mentioned that departmental obligations were not met amid processing the notice of recovery demand while later the adjudication did not addressed grievances of the appellant too.
