ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has adjourned the hearing of three tax references involving Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue and Customs Appellate Tribunal.
A division bench of the IHC comprising Justice Noor-Ul-Haq N Qureshi and Justice Athar Minallah heard a custom reference filed against Customs Appellate Tribunal. The court sent the case to the office for scheduling the date of further hearing.
This case was filed by M/s United Express. The appellant had challenged Customs Appellate Tribunal which it (body hearing customs related complaints) had announced in 2008.
The bench also heard an income tax reference filed by Fazal Ur Rehman. This reference was filed against Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue. The appellant had challenged tribunal decision from 2014 regarding imposition of income tax.
Meanwhile, another bench of IHC, comprising of Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani adjourned hearing of Pakistan Television Corporation Limited’s tax reference against The Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue, Islamabad and officers of Regional Tax Office (RTO, Islamabad.
A decision of tribunal had been challenged through the petition which it announced in 2011. The court would resume hearing the reference in first week of April.
