HYDERABAD: Customs Intelligence & Investigation seized non-duty paid CCTV cameras and wire roles worth Rs8.58 million including a truck, which was being used in smuggling.
Sources told Customs Today on Wednesday that information was received through Director General that a truck loaded with non-duty paid CCTV cameras & its accessories was heading towards Hyderabad to its way to Karachi. The I&I team spotted a truck registration no, HGV-7852 near Pakka Qilla.
The vehicle was stopped and on checking seized assorted non-duty paid CCTV cameras & its accessories, different kinds of wire role along with food items from the truck. The driver of the vehicle presented goods declaration (GD), which did not match with goods.
The claimants of the goods failed to produce any documentary evidence of legal import/possession of the goods. Thus, it stands established that the goods were brought into the country through unauthorized routes without payment of duty and taxes. The goods have been seized along with truck used in smuggling worth Rs2.8 million. Total worth of items is Rs8.58 million.
Source said Customs Intelligence & Investigation Hyderabad is starting a grand operation against illegal petrol pump owners and Iranian diesel in the month of August, source said, adding that three teams will conduct raids in different areas.
