HYDERABAD: The Field Investigation Unit (FIU) Hyderabad has impounds a non-duty-paid vehicle Toyota Hiace Model 2003 worth Rs02million involving duty and taxes of Rs02.1million during an action at Fatah Chowk, Hyderabad, during July 2017-18.
Officials said the Field Investigation Unit (FIU) of Customs Intelligence started taking action against the smuggling in the region. The crackdown has been launched on the smugglers in the region by adopting the latest strategies.
As per details, Customs Intelligence Deputy Director Waqar Haroon Malik received a tip-off regarding the non-duty-paid vehicle. He formed a team comprising Superintendent Qasim Ali Alvi, Intelligence Officer Irfan Ghani, Noor Muhammad Shah, Sepoys Muhammad Imran, Azam Ali Chandio, Noshad Khan, Ghiyas Ahmed Shah, Aslam Chohan, Momin Khan, Haneef Soomro and Rao Abdul Sattar to conduct a raid for impounding the vehicle.
The FIU team intercepted said vehicle with Registration No: JF-7220 near Fatah Chowk and asked the owner of the vehicle for producing the documents regarding the legal import and possession of the vehicle but he failed to do so. The officials impounded the vehicle under the customs bylaws considering it smuggled and registered a case against the accused.
Now the case will be sent to the Customs Adjudication for further legal action against the accused.
