HYDERABAD: The MCC Hyderabad has collected overall Rs1154.633million customs duties and taxes against the assigned target of Rs1011.01million during the month of September 2017-18. So the collectorate stands surplus with Rs1144million duties and taxes.
The collectorate generated Rs328.272million customs duty against the allocated target of Rs227.340million as sales tax of Rs793.397million against the earmarked target of Rs724.560million of federal excise duty (FED) of Rs3.308million against the target of Rs1.190million whereas Rs29.656million was collected against the target of Rs57.920million of withholding tax during the abovementioned period.
The major tax sources include unit of Sukkur (OMC & Rima cooking oil) SWH, Sukkur Directorate, Sukkur Dry Port, Hyderabad Bonded Ware House, State Ware House, Export Hyderabad and KPR (Zero Point) Huffaz Seamless Pipe Industries, Crescent Steel, Omni Polymer Industries and Pakistan State Oil.
The Model Customs Collectorate Hyderabad, Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO), also impounded Non-Duty-Paid vehicles including oil tankers filled with 1000 liter of smuggling Iranian High Speed Diesel (HSD), foreign origin Non-Duty-Paid cigarettes of different brands including Pine Light of Korea, Reds Virgin of England, foreign origin cloths and other contraband items.
The computer sets, CPUs of Dell, hard discs, different GB DVDs, laptops and other items worth millions of rupees were also seized during three months of /July/ august/September/2017-18. The ASO confiscated worth millions of rupees different goods.
Under the supervision of Hyderabad Customs Collector Akhlaq Ahmad Khattaq, Aamer Nawaz Hamid, Deputy Collector Dry Port, Principal Appraiser Mashuq Ali Panhwar, Appraiser Ashir and Superintendent Statistical Revenue played an important role in the revenue collection, officials said.
Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Hyderabad, Anti-Smuggling Organizations (ASO) Hyderabad and Sukkur and Larkana Divisions aborted various smuggling attempts and impounded non-duty-paid items including vehicles, high speed diesel (HSD), cloths, fabrics, polyester ladies shirting, narcotics, diesel pumps, auto-parts, cigarettes, Indian Gutka, all brands, coconut bar compound, Iranian juices, veterinary medicines mobile phones, tyres and tubes, and electronic items, LED TVs, laptops, satellites, receiver laptops, car air-conditioner compressors and dry milk powder in different operations worth million of rupees during the last three months.
Collector Akhlaq Ahmad Khattaq has ordered the officials of the Customs Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organizations Hyderabad, Sukkur-Larkana and Jacobabad to focus on other smuggling items in addition to non-customs-paid vehicles.
