HYDERABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate has released consignments after receiving evaded duty/taxes amounting to Rs 540,271 during October-November, 2015. The consignments were not cleared following the allegation of tax evasion.
Sources said that the Hyderabad Customs released foreign origin cloth, a truck, Rani juice and other items. They added that consignments were held due to short payment of taxes and customs duty worth Rs 199,556, sales tax Rs 177,233, income tax Rs 95,706 and regulatory duty Rs 51, 615, during November 2015.
The customs had stopped the clearance of consignments after detecting tax evasion of Rs 167,067 during November.
The tax evasion was found by Hyderabad Customs State warehouse Assistant Collector Samiullah and his team comprising Deputy Superintendent Sanaullah Soharwardi, Inspector Saleem Ajmeri, Allauddin Qaim Khani and others.
