HYDERABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Hyderabad took into possession a non-duty-paid Toyota Hilux Surf, Model1997, bearing registration No: BD-0791 valued at Rs1.5million involving duties and taxes of Rs3million during an action near Fatah Choke Hyderabad during the month of April 2018.
Sources told Customs Today that I&I Hyderabad, under the supervision of Directorate General Customs Intelligence & Investigation Director Shuakat Ali and I&I Hyderabad Region Director, took solid steps to curb the smuggling in the region.
Sources told Customs Today that Principal Appraiser Syed Irshad Ali Shah received secret information about a NDP vehicle. He formed a special team, comprising Syed Shafiq Ali (Intelligence Officers (IO) and Sepoys and other staffers, who took part in the raid.
The customs team intercepted the said car and asked the driver to produce the legal documents regarding the possession of the vehicle, but he failed to do so. The team took into possession the vehicle and registered a case against the driver.
A contravention report was forwarded to the Customs Adjudication for further legal action.
