HYDERABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Hyderabad and FIU Unit seized100 smuggled PP bags of dry milk powder (USA) valued Rs01.4million involving duty/taxes of Rs189663 at Hatri Bypass Road Hyderabad during a raid in the last week of June 2017.
Reportedly, Customs Intelligence & Investigation and FIU Unit Hyderabad In-charge Superintendent Qasim Ali Alvi along with Customs Intelligence Officers Irfan Ghani and other customs staff were checking the vehicles on Hyderabad Bypass Road.
Meanwhile, Customs Intelligence team intercepted a vehicle which led to the recovery of 100 smuggled PP bags of dry milk powder (USA). The vehicle was going to Multan from Karachi. The driver was asked to show the legal documents of the item but he failed to prove the genuineness, so the customs officials confiscated the said item under the customs bylaws.
It may be mentioned here that following the guidelines of Director Karachi Customs Intelligence Tahir Qureshi, the Field Investigation Unit is taking stern action against smugglers in the region. Keeping instructions in view, all the measures are being taken to save the national economy from trafficking.
Under the supervision of Deputy Director Waqar Haroon Malik, the intelligence team, comprising I&I FIU Unit Hyderabad Superintendent Qasim Ali Alvi, Intelligence Officer Irfan Ghani, Sepoys Noshad Khan, Azam Ali Chandio, Gayaz Ahmad, and Driver Haneef Soomro and other staff, set up a check-post at the exit point of the city.
Superintendent QasimAli Alvi, acting on a tip-off, conducted a raid on the vehicle transporting the Non-Duty-Paid dry milk powder (USA) from Karachi to Multan.
Officials said that a case will be sent to the Customs Adjudication after making a seizure report for further legal action.
