HYDERABAD: Customs Collectorate seized non-duty paid digital and video cameras, watches, mobile covers, batteries, chargers and different type of mobile accessories worth Rs7.89 million including vehicles which were being used in smuggling.
Sources told Customs Today on Wednesday that information was received to Collector Agha Khalid Jamali that a truck loaded with non-duty paid imported digital and video cameras, imported watches, mobile covers, batteries, chargers and different type of mobile accessories was heading towards Hyderabad to its way to Karachi. The customs team intercepted the truck bearing registration no: BMS-0942 near Hyderabad Highway.
The claimants of the goods failed to produce any documentary evidence of legal import/possession of the goods. Thus, it stands established that the goods were brought into the country through unauthorized routes without payment of duty and taxes. The goods have been seized along with truck.
