HYDERABAD: Customs Collectorate seized non-duty paid imported office chairs, multimedia speakers with buffer systems and other things worth Rs 9.2 million including vehicles which were being used in smuggling.
Sources told Customs Today on Monday that information was received to Collector Agha Khalid that a truck loaded with non-duty paid imported office chairs, Hi-Fi multimedia speakers and other things was heading towards Hyderabad to its way to Karachi. The customs team intercepted the truck bearing registration no: QHS-0252 near Hyderabad Highway.
The claimants of the goods failed to produce any documentary evidence of legal import/possession of the goods. Thus, it stands established that the goods were brought into the country through unauthorized routes without payment of duty and taxes. The goods have been seized along with truck. Total worth of items is Rs 9.2 million.
