HYDERABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate’s state warehouse deposited Rs 4.118 million to national exchequer earned through the auction of smuggled items in October 2016.
Officials said that Hyderabad Customs was taking stern actions against the smuggling activities in the region, as it confiscated various smuggled items during different raids by saving the national economy and local business community. They added that seized items were set for auction after the decision of the Customs Adjudication and other courts in favour of the customs department.
The Hyderabad Customs held an auction of different seized goods, including tyres, diesel, ladies purses, Rani Juices, which were captured by Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO), Hyderabad in different operations.
As per the detail, the collectorate earned Rs 3.126 million by selling 58,000 litres of high speed diesel (HSD) seized by customs authorities taking action against the smuggling of Iranian diesel in the region. Similarly, tyres and other items were auction for Rs 992,000.
Following the direction of Hyderabad Customs Collector Agha Shahid Majeed, Additional Collector Rahmatullah Vistro, Additional Collector Omar Shafique, Deputy Collector Shahid Ali, state ware house incharge Syed Saleem Shah and Inspector Abdul Rouf Qureshi conducted the auction of seized items in a transparent way.
