HYDERABAD: Collectorate of Customs collected Rs591.659 million customs duty (CD) during the month of June 2019.
Sources told Customs Today that during the month of June 2019, ASO impounded 15 non-duty paid vehicles along with truck and oil tanker, huge quantity of Iranian HSD and other goods. The market value of the seized goods is Rs 121,883,539 including duty and taxes. The Collectorate collected revenue through Hyderabad Dry Port, Directorate of Hyderabad including Sukkur and Larkana Divisions, Hyderabad State Warehouse.
Collector Khalid Hussain Jamali, Additional Collector (HQ) Dr Aamer Nawaz Hamid, Deputy Collector Syed Kareem, Additional Deputy Collector Kaleemullah Sukkur, Muhammad Yaqoob Pasha inspector in-charge admin dry port Hyderabad, and other officers played an important role in revenue collection.
Sources told that the said anti-smuggling campaign was in full swing in the region following the direction of the Federal Board of Revenue and Collector Khalid Hussain Jamali to streamline the national economy.
Collectorate of Customs Hyderabad Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) preventive and Sukkur division seized smuggled non-duty paid items worth Rs 121,883,539 including duty and taxes during different successful raids during month of June 2019.
Sources told Customs Today that after instructions of Collector Khalid Hussain Jamali, the ASO team conducted various anti-smuggling activities in order to save the national exchequer.
The team confiscated different items, including foreign origin 91200 liters Iranian High Speed Diesel (HSD) worth million of rupees, 15 non duty paid smuggled vehicles including Toyota Vitz car bearing registration no AWU-244, Honda Accord car bearing registration AKU-044 F/O, Toyota Land Cruiser Prado bearing registration BD-9557, Toyota Land Cruiser V8 Reg No BF-2929, Toyota Hilux Pickup Reg NO KT-2079 and other vehicles including Honda motorcycle, Toyota Celica sports car, Suzuki swift car with fake Reg plate number.
Six vehicles seized u/s 157 including truck trailer with container 14 wheeler Reg no LSC-2884 worth 6 million, truck trailer 40 feet container 14 wheeler Reg no TLC-549, Hino oil tanker, Hino truck with tank and other vehicles worth million rupees, 7094 sticks of cigarette different brands, Austone road win tyres (new) ( made in China) worth millions of rupees, 3126 sacks of smuggled tyres different brands and different sizes old and usable worth millions of rupees.
Contraband items foreign origin were also seized including smuggled Gutka Z-21 Indian and other items in different operations at Hyderabad, Sukkur, Jacobabad and Larkana Dera Mor check posts. Sources told that ASO Hyderabad and Sukkur division confiscated smuggled goods worth Rs 121883539.
All the above-mentioned anti-smuggling operations were carried out under the supervision of Additional Collector Dr Aamer Nawaz Hamid and Deputy Collector Syed Kareem Adil, Deputy Collector Kalimullah from Sukkur division while the ASO teams comprised Muhammad Yaqoob Pasha, Syed Momin Hussain Shah, Zulfiqar Ali Jamali, Jacobabad Inspector Aziz Ahmed Katpar, Inspector Makhan Khan, sepoyes, drivers and others took part in the operations.
Talking to Customs Today, customs officers said that Hyderabad Customs showed excellent performance with regard to the anti-smuggling during the said period, adding that the collectorate was improving its performance over the time by adopting effective strategies against the smugglers.
