HYDERABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate’s Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) confiscated smuggled items worth Rs 32.13 million from Hyderabad, Sukkur and Larkana during October 2016
Following the instruction of Hyderabad Customs Collector Agha Shahid majeed, the ASO teams conducted various anti-smuggling activities in order to save the national exchequer. The team confiscated different items, including vehicles, foreign origin cloth, CNG cylinder, perfumes, auto parts, foreign origin cigarettes, electronics, medicines, gutka and other items in different raid.
It seized 15,219 yards of smuggled cloth worth Rs 5.061 million, 45,944 cartons of cigarettes valued at 13.383 million, two vehicles worth Rs 6.5 million, auto parts worth Rs 1.4 million, electronics worth Rs 692,000 and 537 bottles of perfume value Rs 434,400.
Besides, the ASO confiscated 6,560 tablets of smuggled medicine valued at Rs 273,600, miscellaneous items including jackets, waistcoats, Rani Juices, CNG cylinderm chocolates worth Rs 2.176 million and other items .
Under the supervision of Hyderabad Customs Headquarters Additional Collector Rehmatullah Vistro and Additional Collector Omar Shafique, the ASO teams comprising Superintendent Shabir Phalphuto, Superintendent Sikander Akber Phanwar, Deputy Superintendent Anwar Ahmed Siddique, Inspector Waqar Ahmed Baig, Inspector Nazim Ali, Inspector Shakeel Khan, Inspector Ahmed Ali Shah, Inspector Karamullah Hujan, Inspector Syed Zagham Ali Shah, Inspector Shafi Muhammad Jamali, Inspector Mushtaq Ali Lakho, Sepoyes Isa Neromal, Abid Raza, Sadiq Ali, Drivers Nisar Ahmdani and Khan participated in the operations.
Talking to Customs Today, customs officers said that Hyderabad Customs showed excellent performance with regard to the anti-smuggling during the said period, adding that the collectorate was improving its performance over the time by adopting effective strategies against the smugglers.
