HYDERABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Hyderabad, Customs Preventive, confiscated foreign origin non-duty-paid 1960 smuggling crates of Iranian Rani Juice worth Rs940000 involving duties and taxes of Rs629856 during an operation at Hyderabad Bypass during August 2017-18.
Following the guidelines of Customs Collector Hyderabad Akhlaq Ahmed Khattaq, the ASO team is taking stern action against the smugglers in the region. Officials said all possible measures are being taken to save the national economy from trafficking.
An ASO team, following a tip-off received through Collector Akhlaq Ahmad Khattaq, constituted a team under the supervision of customs authorities. The team intercepted a vehicle near Bypass and recovered foreign origin non-duty-paid Iranian Rani Juices which were being smuggled into Pakistan.
The ASO team asked the driver to produce the legal documents regarding the possession of Juices but he failed to produce anything lawful.
The ASO team registered separate cases of smuggling against the accused persons and forwarded the cases to the customs adjudications.
After making a seizure report, the team deposited the impounded Hino bus into the Sukkur State Warehouse.
The operation conducting ASO team consisted of ASO Customs Preventive Hyderabad In-Charge Shakeel Khan, Inspector Muhammad Iqbal Mughal, Inspector Abid Ahmaed Khan, Inspector Mushtaq Ali Lakho, Sepoys Muhammad Ayuob, Ghulam Sarwar, Nenomal, Sadique Khaskheli, Driver Aijaz Ali.
