HONG KONG: Hong Kong stocks ended the morning session on a high, taking the lead from another record close on Wall Street and as investors look ahead to a European Central Bank meeting later in the day.
The Hang Seng Index climbed 0.65 percent, or 147.46 points, to 22,948.38 by the break. But the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edged down 0.05 percent, or 1.71 points, to 3,220.53 and the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, shed 0.23 percent, or 4.84 points, to 2,085.49.
