CENTRAL: Hongkongers have been arrested and charged in Thailand for allegedly trying to smuggle 80 kilos of heroin hidden in pillows that were loaded in a cargo container, a local media report said.
Customs Department director-general Kulit Sombatsiri, told The Nation in Bangkok: “We detected irregularities before the container was shipped to Hong Kong.” The heroin was detected through an X-ray scan.
Kulit said Y&S Solutions Trading Co had arranged for the transport of the container to Hong Kong.
The firm was registered only on January 30. Last month, it sent two lots of rubber pillows to Hong Kong too but nothing suspicious had been found.
