HYDERABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO), Customs Preventive Hyderabad, has taken into possession a Hino oil tanker filled with 15,000 liter of smuggling Iranian diesel (HSD) worth Rs03.8million including duties and taxes on Tando Adam Road near Barani, district Sanghar, in a crackdown during October 2017-18.
Sources told Customs Today that Collector Customs Hyderabad Akhlaq Ahmad Khattaq received a tip-off regarding the smuggling of Iranian diesel.
Following secret information, the collector formed a team, comprising Superintendent Customs Preventive, ASO In-charge Hyderabad Amb Khan, Inspector Abdul Majeed Baraich, Inspector Mushtaque Ali Lakho, a Hawaldar, Sepoyes and a Driver Habibullah, Umer Solangi, Sadique Khaskheli and Ajaz Ali, to frustrate the smuggling bid.
The ASO team intercepted the oil tanker with a registration No: SUA-036, Model 2004, and recovered the said quantity of diesel. The ASO team asked the driver of the vehicle to produce the legal documents regarding the possession of diesel and truck but he failed to do so.
