GWADAR: Collectorate of Customs team seized huge quantity of non-customs paid mobile phones, digital cameras and copper wire rolls worth Rs 7.20 million including vehicle being used for smuggling.
Sources told Customs Today on 31.10.2018 that Deputy Collector Junaid Mehmood received secret information that some smugglers are trying to smuggle huge quantity of mobile phones, digital cameras and copper wire rolls from Gwadar to different cities.
After receiving this information, he constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Customs Preventive Inspector Wajid Rehman, Umar Nabeel and others. The team, during a search operation on Jewani Road, intercepted a vehicle bearing registration no GX-7219.
During search, the team impounded more than 100 piece of smart phones, more than 300 different still cameras and 200 rolls of copper wires valued at Rs 7.20 million including truck being used in smuggling.
The team seized all smuggled items and arrested truck driver. Sources told that customs official started investigations from accused person.
