GWADAR: The Customs Collectorate has seized a huge quantity of smuggled items, including electronics items, Iranian diesel, and mobile phones worth Rs 5.25 million during first week of April.
Source told Customs Today the Customs Collectorate impounded a huge quantity of Iranian juices, non-duty paid confectionery items worth Rs 2.50 million on Monday morning.
Sources said that Deputy Collector Gwadar received information that some smugglers were trying to smuggle some non-duty paid goods. He constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Customs Preventive Inspector Aslam Chuhan and others. The team, during a search operation in the Jewani, intercepted a passenger bus bearing registration No: QX-6352.
During a search, the team impounded a large number of Irani Juice packets and 20 carton of non duty paid confectioneries items valued at Rs 2.50 million. The team took into possession all the smuggling items, passenger bus and arrested two alleged smugglers including bus driver and conductor. Sources told that after registering a case of smuggling against suspects customs team started investigations.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Customs Collectorate has impounded non-duty-paid split air-conditioners and their parts, hashish and bottles of wines during the past eight days of March. The price of the confiscated items is Rs11.55million.
